AHJ’S Plea to Inspect Tents
The following picture takes on a new meaning of creative tent ballasting. The phrase between a rock and a hard place seems to be fitting. However, it was not necessary for an AHJ to inspect this tent because it is less than the 400 square feet requirement for a permit.
The next photos came from one of SAFTSE’S advisors expressing to a fellow AHJ the need for inspection. The ironic thing about these pictures is that the AHJ recognized the ballasting was not correct, but what he thought was wrong was closer to being accurate and what was correct was wrong. The following Monday I sent a Manufacturers Suggested Installation PDF
explaining the proper installation procedures for this frame tent. A hint all frame tents are not created equal.
The challenge to the AHJ’S. First, can you identify the infractions? What would you do to correct the installation? We are assuming you can tell there is a problem, and if there is an outside chance that you are not sure, we are offering an opportunity to correct this issue.
SAFTSE is providing the AHJ’S an educational opportunity that is worth 1 ICC CE Point by joining us in a webinar training course.
